Senior Payload Electrical Engineer, meoSphere
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
meoSphere is SES’s next-generation Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite constellation, designed to deliver secure connectivity services to government agencies, enterprises, and commercial customers. It will also provide high-speed broadband internet to eliminate global connectivity dead zones.
To accelerate development timelines, reduce costs, and ensure quality, SES is internalizing a critical segment of the satellite supply chain: the final integration of partner satellite platforms with SES’s software-defined payloads, all within a cutting-edge manufacturing and test facility.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
As an Electrical Engineer for meoSphere constellation, you will contribute to the design, development, and integration of electrical systems for spacecraft and ground support equipment. This role involves working on state-of-the-art active phase array antenna systems, on-board regenerative processors, and all associated subsystems on power, data interfaces, command and control among many others.
In your first twelve months, you and your team will architect, develop, test, and integrate several electronic units incorporating critical technologies and devices towards first demo mission Within two years, your on-board software will have flown in space. demonstrating cutting-space software designs.
As a Senior Payload Electrical Engineer, meoSphere, you will be responsible for:
- Electrical Design: Develop and review electrical schematics, harness layouts, and subsystem interfaces for spacecraft and related systems.
- Subsystem Integration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define electrical requirements and ensure seamless integration across avionics, payload, and power systems.
- Analysis & Simulation: Perform electrical performance analysis, including power integrity, signal integrity, and thermal considerations.
- Component Selection: Identify and qualify space-rated components, considering radiation tolerance, reliability, and obsolescence management.
- Testing & Validation: Support functional testing, troubleshooting, and environmental qualification of electrical systems and components.
- Compliance: Ensure designs meet relevant space standards (e.g., ECSS, IPC Class 3) and adhere to EMC/EMI requirements.
- Documentation: Prepare design documentation, test procedures, and reports for internal and external reviews (PDR, CDR).
Qualifications Background and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- 5 years experience in electrical design for aerospace or space applications.
- Familiarity with ECAD tools and electrical analysis software.
- Understanding of space-grade design practices, including radiation and thermal constraints.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment for electrical testing.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, any other European language is considered as an asset
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of power subsystem electrical design, digital electronic design and/or high speed interfaces.
- Experience with environmental testing and qualification for space hardware.
- Awareness of EMC/EMI compliance and mitigation techniques.
Other key requirements / comments
- Eligibility for ESA/EU SECRET personnel security clearances is essential. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a security clearance procedure, as this position may require holding such clearance
- Willing to work at least 60% onsite from office
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
