(Senior) Engineer, Digital Systems Engineering

ROLE DESCRIPTION 
A Digital Systems Engineer is responsible with designing and implementing ground-based systems/processes utilized to enable service delivery to SES’ customers and provide operations support for them. You will provide global technical expert knowledge and guidance to Management and all stakeholders by defining the solution framework for Network Operations Centres.

 

You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Support global vision setting and own the implementation for the digitized video contribution infrastructure into the digital Gateway (including aspects of Gateway, VM platforms, video & data platform monitoring, Operations Systems), in close cooperation and alignment with other domains such as Gateway Systems Engineering, Ground Systems Operations and Global Services Operations and IT teams
  • Analyse, design, specify, implement and enhance the Teleport Communications Systems, Control & Monitoring Systems that SES needs to fulfil their mission. This includes the successful deployment of e.g. payload signal backhaul, processing and uplink systems (focus on DVB based audio/video/data processing and monitoring)
  • Own projects and systems to the highest degree of knowledge and professionalism, spanning from supporting strategic discussions to technical design and system definition to procurement and followed by final implementation and initial configuration
  • Efficiently implement the related full project life cycles - from budgeting via project/program management (including procurement or development) to the operational 2nd/3rd level support


YOUR PROFILE

  1. You must have 
  • Hold a recognized Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering degree (BS/MS or similar)
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant engineering experience and ideally worked successfully as Development or Systems Engineer and as Project Manager
  • In depth and hands-on experience with broadcast delivery systems and standards (mainly DVB related) as well as with audio/video and data processing
  • Experience with network management and monitoring systems including hands-on networking and related IT skills
  • Availability to travel from time to time.

 

  1. It would be nice if you had
  • Good negotiations and commercial abilities, proactive approach towards both internal and external customers
  • Sound analytical skills, problem solving and innovative mind, and critical & tactical decision making
  • Experience with office tools like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, AutoCad, Lotus Notes or similar
  • Ability to coordinate with business requirements and target the most beneficial level of complexity
