Analyst, Billing and Revenue Recognition

You will be responsible for the invoicing and A/R subledger posting as well as revenue recognition for SES contracts within the assigned scope of entities. You will interact with Sales, Customer Account Management, Legal, Tax, Credit & Collection (C&C), and customers on daily basis. You will warrant that SES accurately and promptly invoices customers and ensures timely response to customer queries. Hence you will have a significant impact of customer satisfaction. In addition, you will be a vital backup for entities which are not in the assigned scope, supports OTC IT improvement activities and support ERP upgrade as needed. Furthermore, you will support the Order-To-Cash (OTC) management team in the monitoring of OTC process controls.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Review, validate and maintain within agreed scope billing and revenues plans proposed by SatBill. Ensure all relevant contractual data, in particular customer details and payment T&Cs, are correctly captured and interpreted in line with IFRS 15 and SES’s revenue recognition policy.
  • Review and analyse all billing plans to ensure they maintain high level accuracy
  • Process and timely deliver customer invoices based on relevant billing triggers, e.g. monthly charge as per billing plan and consistent with the contractual terms and conditions, as well as usage-based, milestone invoicing, indexation billing, etc.
  • Contribute to the monthly billing closing process, ensuring A/R subledger is accurately maintained, performing billing controls and further analysis as required
  • Actively participate in development and implementation of new systems which impact OTC (CRM, ERP, Billing&RevRec tools)
  • Respond to customer queries in a timely manner and coordinate internal follow-up with C&C and other stakeholders as required
  • Interact with internal and external auditors as requested
  • Support OTC management in the monitoring of OTC process controls as per OTC Risk-and-Control-Matrix, e.g. monitor timely execution of the controls, review completeness of documentation, follow-up with control owners, report and escalate to management as appropriate
  • Other specific tasks with his / her line manager consistent with job definition, skills and experience

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to plan and organize own work within the monthly reporting cycle and to manage smaller projects autonomously
  • Well-organised and reliable, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with relevant SAP business processes (ECC 6.0 & S4HANA), in particular Billing and Revenue processes, and ability to suggest updates to the current process upon S4HANA implementation
  • Willingness to cooperate with team and other stakeholders to achieve common objectives
  • Ability to listen to feedback from customers and address them appropriately, providing input to management to assist the continuous improvement of OTC processes
  • Ability to conduct complex analysis, consider options drawing from own billing and revenue recognition experience, and to determine the right solution within the applicable policies
  • Openness to change and willingness to adapt to an ever-changing business environment

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics from a recognized university. Master’s degree considered as an asset
  • Understanding of general accounting principles (including intercompany reconciliation)
  • Several years of working experience in billing and revenue recognition, ideally in a multi-national company and/or B-2-B services provider environment
  • Solid understanding of IFRS 15 and experience of applying IFRS 15 in practice
  • Excellent IT applications skills: SAP (ECC 6.0 & S4HANA), MS Dynamics 365 (or similar CRM experience) and MS Office (specifically Excel). Symbiosis SBS- SatBill or similar considered an asset
  • Fluency in English, including good written and verbal communication skills. Other languages considered as assets (e.g. French, German)
