Commercial Manager

Partner with the SES Network and SES Video Product Management teams to develop business cases and investment decisions for existing and new products, as well assisting Product Management in understanding the product P&L. Perform all necessary finance-related diligences (economics appraisal, business modelling, financial valuation, financial due diligence, etc.), providing relevant financial guidance (IFRS, risk/return, risk assessment and management), and coordinate product related activities within the organisation.


Extended Job Description:


  • In conjunction with Product Management, responsible for developing the P&L business case and other applicable KPI analysis for existing and new products, leveraging existing business models and templates, in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, including risk assessment, margin analysis, pricing analysis and market benchmarking
  • Throughout the product life cycle, in conjunction with Product Management, own the product P&L reporting and ensure it is properly compared with the budget, business plan and forecast
  • Assist in the preparation of the COGs and OPEX budget for the product portfolio in the annual budget and business planning process
  • Provide financial guidance when developing financial models
  • Act as the central point of contact and coordinator for product related diligences to be performed by internal stakeholders
  • In conjunction with Product Management, develop pricing strategies and market based ratecards through a clear understanding of product profitability, customer needs, and competitive environment to support pricing targets for revenue growth and ensure Product Management follows the product launch approval process
  • Using market intelligence and input from the internal stakeholders to create a clear financial picture of the current and future direction of the product portfolio so management can make tactical and strategic product plans.  



  • Good commercial analytics and negotiation skills, strategic awareness and business acumen
  • Good people & influencing skills including the ability to interface effectively with external and internal customers at all levels
  • Strong process skills required, in particular for the sales process and financial systems
  • Strong commercial and business acumen together with strategic awareness
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task within a fast-paced, challenging and deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to take initiatives and solve customer problems
  • Excellent critical thinking, structured written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional project management skills and hands-on approach to responsibilities is required.



  • University Degree, Finance, Economics or related discipline
  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in product management, business analysis or pricing
  • Experience in a commercial environment; satellite or telecommunications industry experience preferred
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal), other languages are an advantage
  • Willingness to travel as required
